Two former members of staff of CLW, David Stoker and Lucy Tedd have collated memories written by people who worked at CLW between 1964-1989.
The book was published in autumn 2023 with a launch in Aberystwyth in October, attended by many of the contributors and also current and former staff of CLW/DIS.
At the launch tribute was made to former colleagues no longer with us. Sadly Frank Hogg, the first and only principal of CLW, was not well enough to write his contribution prior to his death in October 2022. He did however read (or have read to him) some of the contributions that had been submitted and was delighted with the stories told about CLW’s history.

The book has almost 30 contributors from staff in many roles, including caretaker, graphic designer, media services, accommodation and finance staff, liaison and training staff, librarian, and teaching staff.
The support and involvement of the university’s archivist Julie Archer and her team was vital in helping to find and scan relevant images in their collection for the book. Former colleague Julia Jenkins designed the book, and it was printed locally by Y Lolfa in Talybont.
The book complements our gathering memories project, and we aim to expand our collection of reminiscences to include as many staff and alumni (past students) as possible, from the last six decades of CLW, DILS, and DIS. Please see the contact page for details of how to get involved.
